5:00 – 5:10 – Open floor for any parent, teacher or community member that would like to discuss or bring up any issues or concerns.

5:10 – 5:45 – Liz will give updates on the following topics:

• How did playground ceremony go?
• Joshua incident (do you want to talk about this?)
• Halloween Carnival event/fund raising
• SIP status
• Any budget changes, concerns
• PERA posting for 1^st grade?
• CSAP scores – CSAP growth from prior year?
• Gifted and Talented program status
• Most concerned about 3^rd grade

5:45 – 6:00 – Miscellaneous items – Included CSC meeting minutes in the newsletter?.

5:10 – 5:30 – Liz will talk about the School Improvement Plan (SIP) and school

enrollment as it stands at this point in time (Budget payback)

5:30 – 5:45 – Liz will talk about the proposed school calendar changes requested by the

staff.

• October 26^th and 27^th (Mon – Tues) evening conferences with parents scheduled from 4 – 8 PM for both evenings
• Instead of testing the children on Monday, December 21^st, use the evenings on December 17^th and 18^th (Thur – Fri) 4 – 8 PM

1. Election of Officers

• Pat Welch elected President
• Todd Parker elected Secretary

2. Playground Update

• Scheduled completion date remains Sept. 26^th. After the grass is laid in the beginning of September the kids needs to stay off for six weeks.
• Street parking and congestion has become an issue due to the parking area being used for a temporary playground.
• A playground opening dedication event is being planed that will include recognition of Mike Cohen (major donor) and possible a 2K fun run.

3. Looking at Enrollment

• 356 students are currently enrolled a Palmer; more than in 2008. The most populated classes are fourth and fifth grades.
• The Grant Committee will be formed again this year to seek out and apply for grants to benefit Palmer. Palmer is currently receiving grant money for a tutorial program.

4. Changes in Calendar

• SLT is considering calendar changes.
• Early release days have resulted in increased truancy…alternatives for teacher planning are being reviewed.

5. Discipline Procedure

• After school detention is being considered if other discipline measures fail and for specific violations.

6. Yearly Calendar

• Open House scheduled for September 17, 2009
• Parent tours are scheduled weekly on Thursday.
• Need to determine how to notify teachers when there will be a tour in their class.
• CSC Meetings scheduled for the first Wednesday of the month. Next meeting is October 7, 2009.
