After 17 years with Denver Public Schools, I am excited to be a reading interventionist at Palmer Elementary. I live nearby with  two dogs, two cats, and my husband of 36 years. Our three sons are grown now. Two of them live in Los Angeles, and one lives in the Denver area. We love it when everyone is in town for a visit.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Comparative Literature from Yale and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from CU-Denver. Although I have spent much of my teaching career with gifted and talented students, I more recently became obsessed with the science of reading as one of the most important equity challenges of our time.

When I’m not teaching, you might see me completing the daily New York Times crossword puzzle or listening to a podcast about reading instruction. I love writing poetry, making quilts, choral singing, and dancing like nobody’s watching

Some fun facts:

  • I backpacked the Colorado Trail in 2017.
  • I have been part of the same  book club for over 31 years,
  • I’ve lived in England, France, Mexico, and Guatemala.
